Biggest C&R Loser 2013

Biggest_CR_Loser_2013

Welcome to the third week of Biggest C&R Loser 2013! This year we’ll be keeping all of the results and placings secret until the end of the contest. We’ll also be pooling our cash to award the 2013 winner the largest prize we’ve ever awarded … a whopping $40!  This week’s theme is “DIET” — the contestants were asked: How has your daily diet changed?  What are you eating now that you didn’t eat before?  What have you given up? Here’s what they said:

Adam

I’ve had a stressful couple weeks and my diet has suffered.  Cookies are delicious! They’re all I want to eat! Nom Nom Nom!  I promise to be better next week.

My diet hasn’t really changed that much. Probably because I have not started dieting yet. Well, I have cut back on the amount I’m eating. I’ll be cutting way down on junk food (soon). These are some of the foods I intend to miss the most.
*Consumed since starting this round of BC&RL.

Mikey

I am slowly adding veggies and salads to my routine. After the stress of the wedding, I got back into some bad habits like eating nothing but cheese and bread….those days are gone. So far….I am starving.

My diet hasn’t changed much, except in quantity. I try to avoid sugary and late night snacks. But it’s soooooo haaaaard. I drink more hot teas and have added a daily dose of (Adam’s favorite) an apple cider vinegar drink. It’s a spoonful of vinegar diluted in a glass of water, sweetened with agave nectar or honey. It’s suppose to aid in the weight-loss fight. Bottoms up!

Nathan

banana

I’ve mainly been doing two things. 1) making sure I eat breakfast and that my breakfast is a banana. 2) making sure that I don’t eat at any restaurants/get any take out. It’s been going pretty well, though this week’s been a little shaky.

Polt

Mama xams candy

This week, we talk of out diet. Well, the biggest change is, since the holidays are over, I’m no longer eating Mama Polt’s Homemade cookies. And candy. And peanut brittle. And pies. And big meals with all the trimmings. I’m back to what I was eating before the holidays: salads and meat and cheese and little to no carbs. Yum….I guess….

My “diet” consists of regularly telling myself not to stuff so damn much food down my gullet. No more than 15 peas and 25 grains of rice per meal. (ha! right) Not sure it’s working. But my basic premise is just cut down on the amount of food, which in theory equals fewer calories, which should equal weight loss. I’ve not been tracking very well, but am just trying to be more conscious of what I eat and how much.

These past couple weeks have been incredibly stressful at work (start of a new semester), so my diet lately has been heavy on comfort and convenient food, not so heavy on healthy choices. (The silver lining in that: steak and scalloped potatoes. Mmmmm.) And I did everyone else in the house a favor by taking care of all the leftover candy canes from the holiday. (Seriously, it *was* a favor. By the time I thought to buy any it was Dec 23rd, and all I could find were ones from some off-brand candy company, and their flavor was just a tad off. More spearmint than peppermint.) I swear I’ll start my diet for realz really really soon now. (And in spite of all this horrible eating, I managed to lose a bit more than a pound this past week. Must be the stress.)

Your politics are stupid

You post a photo of every meal that you eat

You are constantly fishing for pity

You are constantly fishing for compliments

You are wayyyy too attractive

You are way happier than me

So what bugs you on Facebook?  (And don’t forget to follow Cocky&Rude!)

SICK.

This past week I have been sick, sick, sick. I haven’t been this sick since I taught preschool (where I got sick on a weekly basis). The sickness started with chills, fatigue and nausea and a fever. Then the coughing started. So I went to the store, got some cold medicine, came home and conked out. Being sick stinks. Sure, you get to stay home and laze around, but you can’t really enjoy it if you’re coughing up a lung. There are some things that make it bearable, though. Here are a few of mine:

Canada Dry Ginger ale with ice (or 7up in a pinch, but not Schweppes, that stuff is nasty)

Clean sheets

Orange Popsicles (the ones made with real juice)

Granny Smith apple slices

my hot water bottle

Saltine Crackers

Homemade chicken noodle soup

A stack of library books

Television

Honey Lemon cough drops (cherry is disgusting)

I don’t have one of these, but it would certainly come in handy…

And a little TLC

Those are some of the things that make me feel better when I’m under the weather. What makes you feel better when you’re sick? Would you rather have someone take care of you, or do you like to be left alone? Let me know in comments!

One week in the life of Michelle M.

I was at a loss about what to post, so here’s a rundown of my exciting, fun-filled week.

Monday – It rained. I went grocery shopping, did laundry, ironed and watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Tuesday – The digital arts class I wanted to take was closed, so I signed up for painting. Class started today. This is the building it’s in. We didn’t do any painting, just got our materials list. I was relieved I wasn’t the oldest one there.

Wednesday – I drove all over town looking for the supplies on my materials list. After going to four stores I finally had them all.

Thursday – Our car broke down. To the tune of $3,000. This is the rental car we’re using. In class we painted a still life of ugly bottles. We were only allowed to use burnt umber, so I ended up with an ugly brown painting of ugly bottles.

That night we went out for dinner. I had a glass of Chardonnay. The menu described it as having notes of pear, lime zest, butterscotch, honey and vanilla – none of which I could taste (wine always tastes like wine to me). Harry had a beer.

Friday – I gave blood. I wanted to have Nutter Butters, but I’m doing the non- gluten thing and had a Rice Krispie treat instead. Afterwards, we went to Wendy’s because I was craving chicken nuggets. I blame Mikey.

Saturday – I got my hair did. At least one day a month my hair does not look like a big frizzy mess. We went to Islands for dinner where I had a lovely (and potent) Mai Tai. Harry had a beer.

Sunday – We went to Las Olas for dinner (Harry had 2 beers). This is the view across the street. I love California.

Then we went to the used record store and Pizza Port for a drink. I had a hard apple cider. Harry had 2 additional beers. We rounded out the night by going to the pet store and buying a new toy for Cooper. Then I kept Adam awake ’til all hours finishing up this post.

How was your week? Was it as amazing as mine? Let me know in comments!

Have You Ever… While Peeing?!

Let’s face it. YOU LOVED MY POST ABOUT PEEING! Everyone did. It’s the talk of the town. Two people even gave it 5 stars. That’s the most starts that anyone can give a post!  Yay!  (Both people were me.) And let it never be said that I don’t give the people what they want. You love pee? I WILL GIVE YOU PEE! Just sit back and enjoy the pee. I’ll give you so much pee… SO MUCH!  I will pee all over you!

The rules are simple: For each question that you answer ‘yes’ to, give yourself a single point. When you reach the end of the quiz, add up your points and post your total in the comments.

6. Have you ever sent a text message while peeing?
7. Have you ever splashed urine or toilet water onto yourself while peeing?
8. Have you ever showered while peeing?
9. Have you ever slept while peeing? (Oh no! You wet the bed! Mom and Dad will be so angry even though you’re just developing slowly and it’s not your fault!!!!)
10. Have you ever trimmed your pubes while peeing?
11. Have you ever cried while peeing?
12. Have you ever pooped while peeing?

17. Have you ever peeked at someone else’s private parts while peeing?
18. Have you ever experienced pain or discomfort while peeing?
19. Have you ever contemplated murder while peeing?
20. Have you ever been inside a moving vehicle while peeing?
21. Have you ever let your pants fall to the ground while standing in front of a urinal in a public restroom while peeing? (Yes this seems to happen quite often for some reason.)
22. Have you ever contemplated your political party affiliation while peeing?
23. Have you ever proposed marriage (or a civil union) while peeing?
24. Have you ever admired Polt’s ass while peeing?
