6th Annual C&R Oscar Contest

The Oscars are right around the corner … and for the 6th year in a row, C&R brings you the Cocky & Rude Oscar Contest. Simply cast your ballot and you’ll be entered to win the honor of having your name in print on this website! (sorry, no prize this year because I’m cheap.) Tune in to watch the 88th Annual Academy Awards on February 28th, 2016!

Rules: Contest entries must be submitted on or before Friday, February 26th, 2016 at 11:59:59PM EST. Limit one entry per person and per IP address. If multiple entries are submitted, only your first will be counted. Entries that are submitted without a valid email address will not be accepted or counted. No late entries will be accepted. The winner of this contest is the individual that correctly predicts the most categories. In the case of a tie, a single winner will be chosen at random by Adam. Contest winners and all rankings will be announced on at approximately 12:01AM EST on Tuesday, March 1st. If there are any conflicts, Adam has the final determining say. By submitting your contest entry, you agree to these rules.

Oscar Contest Results-O-Rama!

Did you watch the Oscar awards on Sunday?  The whole show?  And you managed to stay awake?!  AMAZING!!  You deserve an award.  But too bad!  There’s only one award that we’re handing out today… the award for the 3RD ANNUAL COCKY & RUDE OSCAR CONTEST!  This year’s winner correctly predicted 20 of the 24 Academy Award categories.  AND NOW … without further ado … the winner is: MR. SOMBRERO!  Yippee!  Hurray!  Woohoo!!!  Congratulations!  It’s so nice that a lurker didn’t win the big prize this year!  Ha!  Now before you claim that I cheated and let Mr. Sombrero win the contest, let’s take a look at the results.

Oscar Contest (1)

Here’s a chart of final scores:

And now, some fun observations!  An impressive 100% of the Oscar predictors correctly chose Daniel Day-Lewis as Best Actor.

95.5% of the Oscar predictors correctly chose Anne Hathaway as Best Supporting Actress.  The only contestant that incorrectly chose Sally Field as Best Supporting Actress was none other than Polt (who tied for the least correct Oscar predictions).  Lolz what a dummy!

Each year we invite the contest participants to predict the Best and Worst Dressed Academy Award celebrity attendee.  Since these categories are subjective, they do not count towards final scores.  Here are the results for the Best Dressed category:

bestdressedAnd the results for Worst Dressed:

That wraps up the results of this year’s Oscar Contest.  Thanks to everyone who participated!  Congratulations again to Mr. Sombrero!  You’ll soon be in possession of a 8 packs of candy and a Blu-Ray copy of The Last Airbender.  Hopefully this will not impact his BC&RL results!

So what did you think of this year’s Oscar Awards?  Any surprises?  Who really was best & worst dressed of the night?  Comment quickly before the Jaws theme plays you off!

It’s a C&R Dance Party!

Forget the CD Exchange (if I don’t participate, it doesn’t exist) let’s have a music exchange right here at Cocky & Rude!  Each time we have a C&R Dance Party, I’ll name a theme for the day and you’ll post your responses in the form of a YouTube video in the comments.  And don’t forget to dance!

Today’s Theme Is: CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!!
Link us to a YouTube video in the comments and tell us why you picked it.
Feel free to answer more than once!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!  Here are some of my favorites:

My favorite Christmas Song: Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song:

My favorite to sing along with: Lou Monte’s Dominick The Italian Christmas Donkey:

And finally, I just think this is really pretty. It’s from the short-lived series, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip:

Now share some Christmas favorites with me!

(And by the way, if your video doesn’t post in the comments correctly, FEAR NOT!
I’ll fix it as soon as I get a chance)

Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays 2012

On Saturday, Mr. Sombrero and I attended a fantastic concert: Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays 2012! The concert was a star-studded benefit concert at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre to help raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth homelessness and support the True Colors Fund’s Forty to None Project.

Here’s a bazillion photos and videos for you to enjoy and/or not look at!

TOUR is a Four Letter Word

On Friday of last week, Mr. Sombrero and I went to a Jason Mraz concert at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. I JASON MRAZ!!!* The opening act was none other than Christina Perri (who is know for her song, Jar of Hearts). Here are my photos and a few quick video clips:

*Even though his awful hair and horrible goatee make him look ugly.

The ABC Artist Challenge [A Guest Post by Ryan]

Each of the letters is the first letter of a band’s name (ignoring articles). Each of the letters comes from the album art. There was one exception, where the band does not have its name on its EP. In that case, it is taken from a promotional picture. Can you guess the bands?

Thanks Ryan!
