MEATOUT: Have you ever… been a vegan?!

HAPPY MEATOUT!  Meatout is the world’s largest grassroots diet education campaign. Today, thousands of caring people in all 50 U.S. states and two dozen other countries encourage their friends, families, and communities to “kick the meat habit” and explore a wholesome, compassionate diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The purpose is to expose the public to the joys and benefits of a plant-based diet, while promoting the availability and selection alternatives to meat and dairy in mainstream grocery stores, restaurants, and catering operations. 1. 10 I’ve tried lots of things, I just don’t make a habit of cooking them. I’m afraid I like meat too much to go totally vegan but we do have vegetarian (not usually vegan) days.

  2. Just 2. Now if they had read, “Have you ever done a vegan?” “Have you ever done a vegetarian?” well, then my result would be much higher! 🙂

        1. My question for Adam has always been…..”if you are a vegan…and you are with a guy…and you swallow…doesn’t that make you not a vegan?”

            1. yes….it does…you are consuming the product of an animal. Maybe that animal doesn’t want you consuming it’s products….

  3. 17. I was a vegetarian for 5 years. My mother still thinks I am a vegetarian, but she thinks that all vegetarians eat chicken.

      1. One thing I will add is that soy yogurt is actually pretty good, but it really depends on what fruit has been added.

  4. 19. I can’t remember if I’ve ever tried vegan yogurt or not. I’m pretty sure it would be as gross -if not grosser- than vegan cheese.

PS. What is this wordpress/gravatar login thingy? Rather than login, i changed email addresses. I hope it works.

        1. An important clarification: and accounts are the same thing. Accounts for each service work on the other. So if you’ve only ever used Gravatar, you can log into using your Gravatar account (and vice versa) to post using your registered email address.

  5. I cook mostly vegetarian at home, but that is more due to me finding cooking with meat more annoying than it’s worth. I’ve also gone through periods of several weeks on a vegetarian diet. I don’t see myself going fully vegetarian and definitely not vegan. Since my moral concerns with meat relate to it being more resource intensive than foods lower on the food chain, I see it more as something that I should treat as a luxury than as something to be avoided altogether.

  6. Funny you should post this today, cause yesterday, i got a scolding from my new doctor. She basically put me on the South Beach Diet: No carbs, high protein. So I’ll be eating a lot less pasta/bread/Wheat Thins/starch/candy/etc and eating a LOT more meat to make up for it.

Oh she mentioned I could have green leafy vegetables, but we all know their gross. So ROLL OUT THE MEAT BABY!

  7. 20.

I went vegetarian in the late 80’s; pescetarian in the early 00’s. I still eat the very occasional bit of sushi, but am otherwise lacto-ovo.
